Hot Creek, California
When you go to Hot Creek, please keep in mind the access for public use begins at the Public Access
parking area on Hot Creek Hatchery Road. From the town of Bishop, CA, take Hwy 395 about 35 miles just
past the Mammoth Lakes Airport and turn right. Stay on Hot Creek Hatchery Road for about 3/4 to 1 mile
and park in the public access parking lot.
There are special regulations posted, private property is clearly marked above the public area, and wading the
creek is discouraged by some locals. Fly fishing purists enjoy the traditional aspects of dry fly fishing on Hot
Creek and would never consider attaching nymphs, weights, or strike indicators.
