The West Walker River begins it's journey high in the Eastern Sierras north of Yosemite. The West Walker
eventually merges with the East Walker in Nevada and empties into Walker Lake.
In 1997, a flood all but decimated the river and the highway that runs along it's bank. There are still
enormous uprooted pine stumps that litter the rocky banks of the West Walker.
The West Walker looks like a typical river that runs along side a highway. It looks like it will hold some nice
fish, but there is nothing that makes this river stand out from any other. Until the unexpected happens.
The West Walker is home for the Alper's Trout. The Alper's rainbow has grown to some very large sizes.
There are a wide variety of fish sizes in the river and a wide variety of techniques will be successful. Fishing
the West Walker has easy access from the town of Walker upriver for many miles along Hwy 395.
