Whitney Creek, California
Introduction

Virtual Guide Journal
You will have to really get in shape if you want to fish this creek. It is west of Mt. Whitney. There are three
main routes to get there. The first two originate at Cottonwood Lakes trail head. You can hop over New
Army Pass or Cottonwood Pass and drop down to Rock Creek, then up over Guyot Pass and then down into
Lower Crabtree Meadow, where this creek flows.

These routes are rigorous and long. The third option is even worse, which requires a start at Whitney Portal.
You must climb up and over Trail Crest (13,500 ft.), which is just below Mt. Whitney’s summit. After
dropping down behind Whitney you still have a four plus mile hike to Upper and Lower Crabtree Meadow.
