Wolf Creek can be found in the Toiyabe National Forest and is a tributary of the East Carson River. This
small creek offers the angler a better chance at some solitude, compared to the East or West Carson. Wolf
Creek is a little out of the way, but the drive is well worth the effort. Dry flies with a dropper nymph is the
ticket for this little gem.
Anglers can find Wolf Creek by taking Hwy 89 east from Markleeville to where Hwy 4 begins. Stay on Hwy
4 about 2 miles past the left turn for Hwy 89, and turn left onto Wolf Creek Rd. Remain on the this road
approximately 5 miles until reaching the end, which is a day use area.
Wolf Creek is an easy creek to wade and hike. There are undercut banks, deeper holes, and nice runs that
hold small trout. Small trout willing to take a dry fly, as well as a dropper nymph.
